Midlothian has quietly become one of the best places in Ellis County to raise a family — and a dog. Between the 105-acre Community Park, the trails winding through neighborhoods like BridgeWater and Redden Farms, and a downtown that still throws a parade, there’s a lot of room here for a puppy to find its footing. If you’re a Midlothian, TX family looking for a puppy, here’s how that beginning works at Wellspring Puppies, where the puppies you’ll meet are drawn from both of our Dallas–Fort Worth locations.
Bringing a Puppy Home to Midlothian
A puppy fits Midlothian the way Midlothian fits its families: there’s space to grow into. The morning walk past the splash pad at Community Park, the long-lot backyards out toward the master-planned sections, the dog park at Redden Farms — these are the kinds of places a young dog learns its routine. We’ve watched plenty of those routines start on our location floor, and the part that matters is unhurried: a family sitting on the ground, a puppy deciding whether to come over. Where puppy love begins usually looks a lot like that.
Because Midlothian sits almost exactly between Dallas and Fort Worth, you’re not locked into one location or one shelf of puppies. Everything below reflects what’s available across both Wellspring locations, so a single search covers twice the litters.
Breeds Midlothian Families Tend to Love
We don’t stock to a formula, and availability moves daily, so think of this as a starting point rather than a promise of what’s on the floor today. That said, a few types tend to suit the mix of acreage homes and newer neighborhood lots around Midlothian:
- Goldendoodles — easygoing, low-to-moderate shedding, and happy whether you’ve got a big yard or a daily trail loop. A reliable first dog for a busy household.
- Bernedoodles — a gentler, sturdier build for families with younger kids and a little more room to roam.
- French Bulldogs — compact, low-demand on the exercise front, and unbothered by a smaller footprint if you’re in a newer patio home.
- Cavalier King Charles Spaniels — soft-natured and people-first; a Cavalier will follow you room to room, and that’s the breed, not a phase.
- Mini and Toy Poodles — sharp, light-shedding, and game for as much training as you want to put in.
Not sure where to land? The full, current lineup lives on the puppies for sale page, and our breed library walks through size, coat, and temperament before you ever make the drive.
The Drive From Midlothian
Midlothian sits at the junction of US-287 and US-67, roughly 25 miles from each of our locations — so geography genuinely gives you a choice. The nearest is our North Dallas location at 14233 Inwood Rd, Dallas, TX 75244, near I-635 (LBJ). From Midlothian it’s about a half-hour run: take US-67 northeast toward US-287, then follow the freeway up into the metroplex and exit for Inwood Road. Light traffic, mostly highway, easy to do on a Saturday morning.
Our second location, the Fort Worth-area location, is at 2840 FM157 #120, Mansfield, TX 76063 — physically in Mansfield, the nearest big town to Midlothian’s west side, and a comparable drive. If you live on the Mansfield side of Midlothian, that location may actually be the quicker trip. Either way, the inventory is shared, so pick whichever road you’d rather drive.
One Search, Two Locations
This is the upside of buying from a two-location family: you’re not betting your weekend on whether one shelf happens to have your breed. The puppies listed here pull from Dallas and from the Mansfield location together, and our team keeps tabs on both. Call (972) 674-1963 before you head out and we’ll tell you, plainly, which puppies are at which location that day — no wasted trip, no guessing. One trusted breeder network, two DFW locations.
Every puppy you meet was raised by carefully selected, licensed breeders, chosen for soundness and temperament, and examined by a licensed Texas veterinarian before going home. Texas law means none come home before eight weeks, when they’re actually ready. Ask us anything about where a puppy came from; a clear answer is the whole point.
Payment Plans for Midlothian Buyers
If the timing works better spread out, we partner with TerraceFinance in-person so the cost can fit your month instead of arriving all at once. Approval runs through TerraceFinance rather than us, so it isn’t automatic — but it’s a quick, no-pressure conversation, and we’ll walk through it with you at the counter. You can read how it works on our financing page before you visit. If you’re weighing the long view, ask about the optional 15-Year Limited Health Warranty too — an in-person add-on that backs the years ahead.
Midlothian Puppy Questions, Answered
Which Wellspring location is closest to Midlothian?
Our North Dallas location on Inwood Road is the nearest for most of Midlothian — about 25 miles and roughly 30 minutes up US-67 and US-287. If you’re on the western, Mansfield-facing side of town, our Fort Worth-area location on FM157 may be the shorter drive. Both carry from the same shared inventory, so the choice is really about which highway you prefer.
Are the puppies here the same at both locations?
The listings on this page combine what’s available at Dallas and at the Mansfield (Fort Worth-area) location, but individual puppies live at one location or the other. Call (972) 674-1963 and we’ll confirm exactly where a puppy you’re interested in is staying so you drive to the right one.
What breeds will I find near Midlothian?
It rotates — doodles like Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles tend to be popular with North Texas families, alongside French Bulldogs, Cavaliers, Poodles, and small companion breeds. Because litters change often, the honest answer is to check the current selection or reach out for what’s in this week.
How are the puppies raised before I meet them?
Every great dog starts somewhere good. Ours come from a small circle of hand-picked, licensed breeders — never a mill, never a broker — and they’re handled gently and socialized before they ever arrive with us. Each one is seen by a Texas veterinarian before meeting families.
When are you open for a visit from Midlothian?
Both locations keep the same hours: see our store pages A weekday evening or a Sunday afternoon tends to be the calmest time to take your time on the floor.
Come Meet Them When the Time Is Right
There’s no countdown here and no reason to rush the drive up from Midlothian. Bring the whole family, take an afternoon, and let a puppy decide whether it wants to climb into a lap. When you’re ready, start with the available puppies, or call (972) 674-1963 and send us a note so we can point you to the right location. That short trip up US-67 is where a fifteen-year story tends to begin.
